Ok who wants to say something controversial to get a good debate going?
Neil, yes, please do as you wish with my ball shaped Chum. He was getting too argumentative for me anyway. Be nice to see where he pitches up next....
Ermmm.....whose bum is that in Ewan's photographs?
Yes, who was the 1 bum salute?
"Whose arse is it anyway"?
Who lives with an arse like this?
I think what's written on them should be a good enough clue....
Many thanks to every one for sponsoring Kira on her zombie walk today. With the help of the chums she managed to raise nearly £140. Anyone who pledged money but haven't paid yet don't worry. (Liam Neeson Voice) "Whoever you are I will find you"!!!
Well done Kira IOU a fiver :-) xxxx
P.S. Its all going to the air ambulance.
Well done to Kira. She did well raising that amount Xx
Have added one more pic :-)
Is that so? You should McLook at the McLookalike page Chum...
Yep just seen :-)
Sorry this has come a bit late but I've only just sobered up!!!! Thanks Neil for throwing a great party & to all the chums for being there. God I feel old!
"Arse The Family"?
'Going for a Thong'?
You have to be of a certain age to get that one.
Was that the one hosted by.........Nickerless Parsons?
Whilst brushing my teeth, I thought that the above remark would have had a bit more impact if I had typed......
Knickerless Parsons. :/
Whilst brushing your teeth you thought of Mr Parsons with no underwear on ??? I some time wonder about you and what goes though your mind
Hahahahahaha..... You know me a little tooooooo well, Mr McEwan.
Wait until I show you my Summer Solstice photo's. You may never look at me in the same light again.
Ok, I'll stop. Don't wanna kick the arse out of this.....
Shreddies, steady, cook?
Enjoy Scotia mate.
Here's an odd coincidence.
After I sent the last Chumment. I began to wonder if I had got the name right. I googled it and found out that one of the presenters Ross Burden is dead. It has just been announced today. Curiouscoincidence, eh?
'MasterChef and Ready Steady Cook star dies at age 45 after suffering from cancer'
Trez bizarre indeed.
Celebrity death = Chum Saturday on the horizon.......tiz strange indeed.
Thanks for showing me where the "on" button is on my laptop etc ;)
Chum night :-)
Saturday Chum Night deffo = Celebrity Death Week.
Mike Smith R.I.P.
A candle burned for the hour in our house, Remembered
Ours too Chum.
Love the tribute Prez...candle lit, well, tea light as I was off to bed, thought it was safer.....
There are West Coast, Barrow and Westmorland roll calls for those whose folk hail from those parts too. Go here and click links top right...
Here's one that slipped by. Lovely old James Garner died July 19th 2014.
He will be missed.
Anyone interested in doing the State Management Pub Trail of Carlisle, or at least trying to do it, some brave souls are meeting in the Beehive today around 1:30 ish
ooohhhh, that explains the check ins on fb!
In today's Evening News and Star.....
How Chummingly spooky..... (cue Twilight Zone music).
Excellent web page which helped fill in the blanks (I has forgotten I got to the napper). Can't wait for the event proper:)
If nobody minds, or organises one before hand, may I suggest a full scale attempt at doing all 16 pubs on SATURDAY APRIL 4th 2015?
It's not a Chum Saturday by the way.
Going out Saturday and the celebrity death this time is robin Williams. A sad end to a giant of comedy.
I have NO recollection of being in The Sportsman.
Unreal that Robin Williams has died. Especially as we were just talking about him on Saturday.
Too many weird things going on lately....
I guess we will never na noo....
Has anyone else noticed on the Chum banner (the header) Maka seems to be tonguing Pogs behind his wife's back?
Brazen and shameless.....
Yep seen but thought best say nothing :-)
Pogs doesn't seem too impressed with said tongue and he only gets it out on special occasions too :-)
Whose out on Saturday?
We have got a babysitter and Cheryl will be able to get out to celebrate her birthday. It will be the first alcohol she has had in nearly a year - so expect some lightweight drinking from her.
How lucky am I to be attending Sat for Cheryls birthday celebration, I have Sunday off, Hurrah see you all there xXXx
Some people may have noticed that Chum Andy has become the latest editorial Chum with his own webspace. He is currently designing and populating a number of very interesting pages on our site. This section is not for view yet as it is under construction, but will be available soon.
I enjoyed the photos of the pub crawl!
O dear the full moons out :-(
I see a bad moon rising....here we go:)
For those affected by the current Zeitgeist moment, a therapy session entitled "Dealing with Chums' bums" will be held in The Napper this coming Saturday.
Allegedly, a full frontal version is available to view at www.embarrassingbodies.com or www.farmersweekly.com
Mr Currie was unavailable for comment today. A neighbour said he had seen Mr Currie getting into a taxi for Manchester Airport holding a one way ticket for Outer Mongolia.
The local authorities have been notified.
Good grief a frolicking full moon that truly is a spectacular celestial body seldom seen in the daytime
You have just become my numero Uno favourite Chum Nicky.
Never have I been referred to as a "Spectacular Celestial Body" :0
Love the crack on this site...
Plenty of it on the site at the moment, most of it yours
The keen astronomer may have seen the seventh planet from the sun in that photo.
Oh, Andy! That's a bum joke!
P.S. More like the keen eyed proctologist.
Great pics of the Birthday night out
The one pic of Shaggy is especially terrific.
With a Chum Saturday on the horizon, this week's celebrity/star to pop their clogs is.......................???
Bloody Hell!!! Just heard about it on the news now!
Neil needs maybe to be asked how his life is going,
I think he'll say its going well
How's your life going Neil...?
Answer your text messages my friend!
Sorry chums my minds been elsewhere recently. (beyond the sun)
I would like to announce that Sarah and I have just got engaged. Anyone out on Saturday for a celebratory drinkie?
Apparently the nappa is going to be closed so you may find us in woodrows after 7. Chum Chum Chum etc.........
Congratulations to the both of you. I'm happy for you Neil.
Not sure about tomorrow, certainly not sure about Woodies. I would imagine Woodrows is a different kettle of Eels on a Saturday night than on afternoon Chum Club?
Chum Chum Chum
Chum, chum, chum
chum chum chum from Kos
Chum chum chum also from me in Kos :-)
Great to hear from you Hope you are enjoying the sun. Have you met any sexy beach balls? Looking forward to seeing your holiday snaps.

Yep already bumped into them and had a beer or to , he's invited me to a chum night out back in Carlisle on the 13th Sept the only trouble is with pub as he tells me the nappers shut for a few weeks, and no not seen any sexy beach balls yet but I am on the lookout
Wilson's in Kos?????????????
Kos he is...
He is and I have some pics of him
Have stolen a pic of Wilson and posted it on fb more may follow ;-)
It needs to be on here, not Facebook then...
Unable to put on this site until I get back to the UK :-(
Facebook is SO last year......
Havn't seen Wilson for couple days last seen him bouncing of with a hot looking volley ball :-)
Oh, don't worry Ewan, he's always a round :)
Not as around as he used to be ;-)
Hahahaha....Lerve the pic of him on the beach!
How did you get him in your suitcase? Imagine Security watching him go by in the X Ray machine. Quality.
Last day of my hoildays in kos and I've been back to the beach and went snorkerling with Ewan it was great
Hi Wilson as you have had such a great time in the sun and Ive heard you are great company Maka and I would like to invite you to Spain so we can pick you up at Ewans party if you can come along, hope you can make it xXXx
Sounds great thank you very much see you on Saturday, Spain here I come :-)
As Wilson says Ewan will soon be back with us. It's his birthday this weekend and as the Napper is closed we have thought long and hard where to celebrate it and by an over whelming majority vote have decided to meet in....the Linton Hotel.
It's a BIG one (arent they all this year??) so all Chums are cordially invited to attend this Saturday at 8:00ish. You bring the silly stuff - balloons, party hats and pressies and a Chum card will be provided to sign.
Sir Donald Sinden.....R.I.P.
I honestly thought he had died years ago. Richard Keel (Jaws in 007) died too.
Thanks chums I had a fantastic night
Pleased you had a good time you're only 50 once its a great reason to celebrate xXXx great night out
I will sort a page out ASAP, Sophie allowing:)
Splendid photo's from Ewan's 50th.
Happy memories :)
I thought I would 'bagsey' the 100th comment to announce the imminent arrival of a new section of the site called Andy's Island. The countdown has begun to the unveiling of an awful lot of hard work from Andy. He has produced an informative, interesting and very well put together series fo pages.
When the port authorities allow you to disembark I urge everyone to get your passports out and go visit.
My pics up :-)
Feeling the urge to watch A Bridge To Far
The film, despite being directed by Dicky Attenborough, has too much of an America won WWII/revisionist feel to it which is a shame because parts of it are excellent.
On a similar note. I watched about 20 minutes of U571 today and nearly kicked the TV screen in..
Have a look at the reviews on IMDB. The first six or so pages to a man are critical. I was pleased to see there were many US critics pointing out/apologising for its rewriting a Hollywood version of history as there were British...
Hey Prez. Are Andy's pages password protected or is it just my computer playing silly buggers.
Crazy 50th birthday photos but who's the mott with the blue hair?
Andy's Island is now open for visitors. PLease visit and then offer up praise and feedback here.
Just had a very pleasant tea break watching the Old Carlise then & now you tube things....lovely, so sad so many beautiful buildings have gone, although the Lanes were a grotty dark mess & think some people remember with rose tinted specs!
We're home and all chilled an dat so anyone fancy a little wed club drinkies see you tomorrow, Maka has the day off HURRAH!
Wilson has been up to all sorts on his hols we could hardly keep up with him sometimes, but he had a little time to chillax too. He's ready and willing to go on any goings away, he's ready for a some culture, the great outdoors (he's quite sporty) any new experiences at all and of course hes always up for a good booze up. Just let us Makars know and we'll drop kick him off to you and to his next adventure :-)
Welcome back glad to here you all had a fab time
When we were off we made Wednesday Chum club, sorry we missed you :o( Welcome back x

We looked so young, not but all good memories
Anyone else attending Mill & Amys do? Got myself a fancy cape for the occasion!

Still buzzing from the Doors Alive concert last night.
Anyone up for watching the Autumn International Rugby Union England v New Zealand today? 14.30 kick off.
Not sure where though...... The Howard maybe??
NEWSFLASH.....The Howard isn't showing the rugby.
The Caledonian and The Griffin will be (after the roundball).
Bernard Stanley "Acker" Bilk MBE R.I.P.
Doors Alive was amazing....how did we not see you! I did see Paul Chalmers briefly & spent some time with Milly & the lovely Amy :o) Not usually a fan of tribute acts, but lets face it, I was never going to get to see The Doors..................
You were there too?? I was with Paul.
The guy who portrays Jim Morrison (Willie Scott), really has got his mannerisms down to a tee.
He was amazing, worth the ticket price, would go again
finally processing pics from the Carlisle Blues festival
Good weekend - great music and lots of beer - After 6 weeks abstinence the liver and kidneys were complaining quite vociferously by the end
Pics are on the engine room page
My favourite one is still the 'Marcus' one, chum.
Love the pictures Giz.
Anyone notice me in the new Sainsbury's Christmas advert?
All pics from Blues fest now complete - up on the Engine Room
Eagerly awaiting Nicky's pics and report from HRH
Still swinging and proud of it :-)
'Boys Keep Swinging' or 'The Oldest Swinger in Town'...let the jury decide...
'it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing' do a do a etc :-)
"Swing low.......Sweet Chariot.....Coming for to carry me home..."
'Now I'm the king of the swingers, a jungle VIP...'
Jimmy Ruffin, the Motown singer whose hits include "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" and "Hold on to My Love," died Monday in a Las Vegas hospital. He was 78.
(Is this a little too macabre for folks)?

You realise Wilson will have to be invited?:)
Of cause :-)
Its the Saturday 6th December 2014
My On Call rota isn't done for that weekend yet.
If I'm not On Call, count me in.
PS. Wilson will be familiar with drinking establishments, I do believe he was a Bouncer during The State Management era ;)
I would have fancied this but we are in Glasgow to see Slash on Thurs/Fri then have a do on the 7th....I do not think my body could cope :o( I expect to see lots of fab photos though :o)
That OK planning to do another one next year if we survive this one
Hi Chums Wilson has put his pics up of HRH V111 he is ready and raring to go so we will bring him out Wed chum club for a tipple and to pass on to his next big adventure :-)
Where has he put his pics?
The Knights Who Say Ni.
I'm not on call on 6th December, so I'll give the State Management Trail by bestest attempt.
Good route and plan of attack, by the way, Ewan (typical Army...plans plans plans) ;)
Just looked at Wilson's pics at HRH V111, absolutely brilliant stuff, so pleased he's getting on with everybody and spreading the lerve :) xx
This is getting too weird for words.
I STILL can't find Wilson's new pics. What page are they on??!!?
Mystery solved. Nicky you have not published the site yet so you can only see them in editor mode.
Those who look at the page without editor's rights will not see them.
That's why Giz'z tablet and Andy could view them and others could not.
Problem sorted now we can all enjoy the adventures of Wilson :-) Hope you're keeping him busy Nic
Thank you and I have enjoyed seeing what Wilson and the Makers got up to at HRH VIII
He is resting at the moment Nicky dear, saving himself for the big weekend.
Does anyone have a kilt that will fit a deflated, beaten up old football?
BTW I think Denis is up for the historic walk.
I am bereft of said kilt, both for Wilson and myself.
I shall be attempting the trail, kiltless but armed with a SMT T-Shirt (available at the little shop next door to The Sporty if anybody is after one).
Kilt and State Management T-Shirt at the ready
Four more sleeps........
.......but still no kilt.
But Why no kilt ?
New route for The State Management Historical Walk on 6th December. TBA soon due to curruck not opening til 1pm
Two more sleeps.

Can't wait to see Wilson.

Have a route in mind will post tonight tune in later for updates (after 8pm)
Twas the night before the State Management Trail.
Twas the night before the State Management Trail,
The Chums were a stirring, thinking of lots of real ale,
It only happens once in a while,
That historical walk, around much of Carlisle.
The Chums were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of beer danced in their heads.
The route was planned, the time was set,
All were dreaming, of their whistles to whet.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Could it be Nicky? No, she's gone to see Slash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Ewan McEwan, with eight pints of beer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be our Nick.
More rapid than eagles his Chums they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Den! now, Shaggy! now, Macca and Paul!
On, Ripper! On, Neil! on, Andy and Giz!
To the top of the Napper! to the top of the wall!
Now drink away! Drink away! Drink away all!"
As dry mouths that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the Napper the Chums they all flew,
With a belly full of Beer, and Our President too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and dancing of Ewan's wife Ruth
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney came Johnno, in time for next round!
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A crate full of beer he had flung on his back,
With a smile on his face, he emptied his sack.
His eyes-how they twinkled, he'd been on the sherry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
The beard of his chin was as white as the snow,
"To The Rambler", he shouted, "Let's do it, let's go"!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Led me to know, we'd left The King's Head,
"We're a Chum down" the Prez did believe,
"Not to worry", we said, " It's just Guinness Steve"
We spoke not a word, went straight to the bar,
Damien looked cool, playing his air guitar,
We filled all our glasses like true working classes,
Some of us even, eyed up the lasses.
Nick sprang to his feet, I thought he might puke,
He was only off, to The Thin White Duke
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, what a bloomin' good-night!"
Gobsmackingly awesome Andy.
My fave bit....
'A crate full of beer he had flung on his back,
With a smile on his face, he emptied his sack'.

I thought Ewan when he joined up was a 'tanky'...it seems he was better suited to logistics:)
It is a goodly and cunning plan....
Remember 'Mustgetbeers' (Andy's name for those who are coming) to get yourserlves a day rider on the bus into town. They cost £2:90 and valid anywhere and for the whole day/night...they might be useful for getting home too:)
Good point Prez, I'll be bringing a list of bus numbers and routes with me.
I'm looking forward to it Chums.
Well planned out Ewan. Looking forward at attempting this historical, nostalgic, educational trip down memory lane.
One more sleep. :)
"Cometh the hour, cometh the Chum"
So who ended up sleeping on the wet patch???
Anyone fancy a pint today??
A debrief perhaps of yesterdays event
