THE GARAGE
The biggest attraction of sci-fi films to me as a child was the story tellers ability to build a believable world out of cannibalised airfix kits and household objects. This is why some of us still rave on about some of the weakest storylines ever put on screen. If it had cool looking ships and robots in it then that was enough to fire our imagination. But it's not enough to create something inside a computer. These had to be made by hand so we could imagine picking them up and accompanying them on the adventure.
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
Asimov's famous three laws of robotics make perfect sense to us. Unfortunately most robots in the films didn't give a stuff about them. There are plenty examples of robots being ordered to harm humans. Although the concept of good and evil doesn't apply to them I have nevertheless compiled a goodies and baddies list.
AND NOW FOR SOME SHIPS
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, HERE ARE 30 OF MY FAVOURITE MOVIE SPACESHIPS ONCE AGAIN TRYING TO AVOID CGI THOUGH I WILL ADMIT THERE'S BEEN SOME GREAT ONES.
The Build the Enterprise (BTE) website describes how to build the first USS Enterprise spaceship, based on technologies within our reach, over the next twenty years. You read that right. It’s possible for the United States of America to build the first generation of USS Enterprise given the national will to do so.

Don't know if anyones seen this yet.
This is Parkland High School in Allentown Pennsylvania
which by pure coincidence (according to the planners)
bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain corellian
cargo ship. For a closer look you can use this link to
